Word of Wisdom
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Old Testament examples
15 Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying,
16 To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.
17 And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said unto him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this same shall reign over my people.
--- 1 Samuel 9:15-17
1Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kisssed him, and said, Is it not because the Lord hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?
2 When thou art departed from me to day, then thou shalt find two men by Rachel's sepulchre in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found:
and, lo, thy father hath left the care of the asses, and sorroweth for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?
3 Then shalt thou go on forward from thence, and thou shalt come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:
4 And they will salute thee, and give thee two loaves of bread; which thou shalt receive of their hands.
5 After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:
l6 And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
--- 1 Samuel 10:1-6
Notice that God gave Samuel a word about Saul being His choice to be the first king. Before that Saul was sent by his father Kish to go search for some lost donkeys. After a couple days of being unsuccessful Saul decided that maybe they should return to his father, Kish before he began to worry about them. One of the servants he brought with him suggested that he visit the prophet Samuel to inquire of the Lord the location of the donkeys. Saul agreed that was a good suggestion. The day before that God had given the word of wisdom to Samuel that Saul would seek him out and that he would be the first king of Israel. After they met Samuel revealed to Saul the purpose of God to make him king. He afterwards Samuel gave to Saul a word of wisdom from God to instruct him.
New Testament examples
8 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.
9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said,
Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
--- Acts 21:8-12
Agabus was a prophet from Jerusalem was in Caesarea when Paul and his company which included Luke when they visited Phillip the evangelist. He came into the house and took Paul's girdle and gave a word of wisdom that the person who owned the girdle would be bound by the Jews and given into the hand of the Romans. And came to pass just as he said. The company with Paul tried to convince to no go to Jerusalem but already knew by his spirit that it was going to happen and he was already prepared to even die for the Lord. The word was more for the people around Paul then for him.
27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
--- Acts 11:28-30
The prophet Agabus also gave a word of wisdom about a coming famine that came to past a few years later and the disciples in Antioch prepared according to his word and made provision to bless the saints in Judaea and they sent Barnabas and Saul. The one of the main purposes of the word of wisdom is revelation of the mind of the Lord for the future.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
--- 1 Corinthians 2:10-13
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
--- John 16:13
