Fruit of Spirit con't

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

--- Galatians 5:22-23

Faith

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

--- 2 Thessalonians 2:3

3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

--- Romans 12:3

22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

--- Mark 11:22

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

--- Romans 10:17

13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

--- 2 Corinthians 4:13

Faith is of God He gives it to us in measure and that measure can be increased. Faith comes through word of God. Faith is the nature of the Faith. He is the father of faith. The spirit of faith believes and therefore speaks it is the nature of the Father to believe and therefore speak. As His children He has called us to do the same. Faith believes and it speaks. Faith is needed to embrace things that are not yet seen.

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

--- Hebrews 11:1

The word "substance" is the Greek word hupostasis which means confidence or subsistence. Faith is the confidence of things hoped for or the subsistence of things hoped for. Subsistence means to have the qualities or characteristics of something that exists. The word "evidence" is the Greek word elegchos which means conviction or reproof. Faith is the conviction of things not seen. We are called to grow in confidence and conviction. The fruit of faith is the fruit of confidence in things we hope for and the fruit of the conviction of things we do not see.

Your confidence and conviction reveals your faith. Your words are also an indication of your faith. Faith is the ability to live beyond the things that you can see. Our faith is what the word of God says whether it is written or spoken. We are made righteous by faith and then called to live by faith.

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

--- Romans 1:17

7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

--- 2 Corinthians 5:7

Meekness

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

--- Matthew 11:28-30

3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

--- Numbers 12:3

4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

--- 1 Peter 3:4

Meekness was the quality that Jesus and Moses mastered that enabled the Father to work closely with them. To be meek is to be mild mannered. Meekness is the ability to not be reactionary. The meek do not live reacting to every thing, it is ability to not retaliate. Meekness is the quality of soul winners.

1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

--- Galatians 6:1

15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

--- 1 Peter 4:15

24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

--- 2 Timothy 2:24-26

Meekness is a preserver it will preserve if you seek to minister to who may be difficult. The spirit of meekness will help you restore those who taken in faults or failures. Meekness is a quality that will serve you well when you testify of the reason for the hope you have in God. Meekness enables you help those who oppose themselves.

Temperance

24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

--- 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Whatever a man strives to master requires temperance. Paul uses the illustration of an athlete. Athletes, such as football players, basketball players, boxers, etc. has to exercise temperance which is self control to become good or great at their sport. Paul said like a athlete he brought his body into subjection. How did he do that?

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

--- Romans 8:9-11
