The Seven Spirits of God

4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

--- Revelation 1:4

5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

--- Revelation 4:5

6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

--- Revelation 5:6

10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

--- Zechariah 4: 10

There are the seven Spirits of God. The seven Spirits of God are also called the eyes of the Lord. The seven Spirits of God are before the throne and at the same time are sent forth into all the earth and are run to and fro through the whole earth. The seven Spirits of God are the manifestations of the Holy Spirt. Christ the Lamb of God embodies the seven Spirits of God and the Holy Spirit receives of Him. The seven eyes of the Lord search the seven gates of man.

The Seven Spirits of God

1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

--- Isaiah 11:1-2

  1. The Spirit of the Lord

  2. The Spirit of Wisdom

  3. The Spirit of Understanding

  4. The Spirit of Counsel

  5. The Spirit of Might

  6. The Spirit of Knowledge

  7. The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord

The Spirit of the Lord

17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

--- 2 Corinthians 3:17-18

The Spirit of the Lord is the Spirit of Jehovah. That Spirit brings liberty wherever He is. The Spirit of the Lord releases the glory of God to transform the children of God into the image of God. From glory into glory the Spirit changes the child of God. The Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

--- John 14:17

26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

--- John 15:26

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

--- John 16:13-14

The Spirit of Truth primary function is to

  • Testify of Jesus

  • Guide us into all truth

  • Speak what He hears

  • Show us things to come

  • Glorify Jesus

The primary function of the Spirit of Truth is to testify of the truth which is Christ Jesus. He reveals that the testimony of Christ is indeed true. He shows the revelation of the Son of God. He proceeds from Christ to reveal the things of the one He came from that is Christ. The Spirit is sent to guide us who believe into not some but all truth. His function is to be with always and reveal truth to us. His work is never ending and He declares what He hear. He does not speak of Himself for being sent of God He speaks the things He hears of God. The next great work of the Spirit of Truth is show us things to come. Those who abide in Him can understand to to function in this world from a divine perspective. He shows what is coming and gives revelation of the plans and purposes of God and the enemy. He also glorifies Jesus by taking what belongs to Jesus and revealing it to the believing ones. He never comes to glorify man but always to glorify Christ.

The Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding

2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

--- Isaiah 11:2

The seven Spirits of God are called the seven lamps of fire before the throne of God. Six of the Spirits consist of three pair of the Spirits. Wisdom is paired with Understanding, Counsel is paired with Might, and Knowledge is paired with The Fear of the Lord.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

--- Proverbs 4:7

The words "is the principal thing" is the Hebrew word reshiyth which means the beginning or the first. It is the same word that is in Genesis chapter one verse one where it says in the beginning. Every creation begins with wisdom, therefore the wisdom of God precedes the creation of God.

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

--- Genesis 1:1

22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

--- Proverbs 8::22-27

The Lord possessed wisdom before His works of old. God prioritizes wisdom above the creations. The creation exist because of wisdom, not wisdom exist because of the creation. Before He prepared the heavens He consulted wisdom. Wisdom sees the end from the beginning. Wisdom sees the purpose for a thing. Wisdom lays hold of the future expectations. Wisdom does today what will bring a better tomorrow. Wisdom should be the priority of every believer. Every believer should be praying and seeking for wisdom.

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

--- James 1:5

7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

--- Proverbs 4:7

16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

--- Proverbs 16:16

See how King Solomon often paired wisdom with understanding. Wisdom and understanding should be asked for and sought after with diligence. Understanding is revelation and revelation is understanding. The spirit of wisdom and understanding is the same as the spirit of wisdom and revelation. As we gain wisdom we get a understanding and we receive a revelation of some things. Wisdom and understanding is ours for the asking and taking.

The Spirit of Counsel and Might

2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

--- Isaiah 11:2

Counsel is plans and purposes that are the result of wisdom. The will of God is based upon His wisdom. The counsel of God determines how He will direct His power.

11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

--- Ephesians 1:11

God does all thing after the counsel of His will. It is the counsel of the Lord that is going to stand. Man can have many plans but they all will fail eventually. Only the plans and purposes of God will prevail.

10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

--- Isaiah 46:10

20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21 There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand

--- Proverbs 19:20-21

The Spirit of Counsel is the result of the Spirit of Wisdom. Wisdom is the beginning of the creation of God, and counsel is the ending of the creation. That is why He is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the ending. He begins with His wisdom and ends with His counsel. God places counsel in the heart of a man and because it deals with the fulfilling of the will of God it has to be drawn out.

5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

--- Proverbs 20:5

Counsel is stored in the heart like deep water and has to be drawn out. God's counsel is available to every believer through the Holy Spirit. There is guidance and direction through the Spirit of Counsel. The Spirit of Might corresponds with the Spirit of Counsel.

14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

--- Ephesians 3:14-16

The Apostle Paul's prayer is that the saints of Ephesus would be strengthened with might by His Spirit in their inner man. That was the release of the Spirit of Might in their inner man. The Spirit of Counsel enables Christ to be able to trust us with the Spirit of Might. The Spirit of Counsel causes us to wise and humble. It is through that humility and wisdom that the Spirit of Might can be truly released.

The Spirit of Knowledge and the Fear of the Lord

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

--- Proverbs 1:7

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

--- Proverbs 9:10

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

--- Psalms 111:10

2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

--- Isaiah 11:2

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom. That means a person does not have the knowledge of God unless they have the Spirit of  the fear of the Lord. The first step into the wisdom of God is to fear Him. Knowledge is know how the ability to know. The fear of the Lord is the foundation of the seven Spirits of the Lord.
